FAQs

What is therapy?

Therapy is a space where you can talk to a trained professional about anything. This differs from a conversation with a friend or relative in that a therapist provides an unbiased and nonjudgemental perspective on life issues. In the spirit of collaboration, you and a therapist can explore your inner psychological world to figure out how to effectively move toward life goals. And because we specialize in telehealth services, we can meet you in the comfort of your home.

How long is therapy?

The length of therapy depends on the issue. First sessions consist of an assessment intake that can last up to an hour or more. Subsequent sessions range from 45 to 53 minutes. Weekly or bi-weekly sessions is a typical frequency but can be adjusted as needed. Since each individual is unique, the time to complete treatment varies. Therapy will last until your goals are achieved or until your level of distress is manageable.

How do I find the right therapist?

Finding what is considered a “good fit” is important for success in therapy. Additionally, finding a therapist whose specialization and training meets your needs should be considered. Thus, finding a therapist that you can trust, connect with and are comfortable with are significant factors in finding the right therapist.

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is the use of technology such as video calls and mobile applications to provide health and behavioral services to patients. It enables patients to interact and consult with providers without the need for an in-person visit. Some benefits of telehealth are increased accessibility, convenience, and cost reduction. Research suggests that telehealth is as effective and has no significant differences when compared with in-person visits.
